We did a radio interview for the lovely people at Radio Marsden. The interview is now up on the podcast section of their website alongside some other top listens. Listen to us talk about chips and use the phrase ‘je ne se quoi’.

A really great portion of chips from Alfreton, I paid 50p extra to have gravy. Portion was generous, chips were perfectly cooked and were proper chips, not those daft french fry things. Usual range of sauces for free, gravy, peas or cheese for extra.

NLC Player Kit Sponsorship
Hello Non League World!
We have decided that we would like to get behind the non league family and sponsor an item of a totally random player’s kit for the 2012/13 season.
We would like you to send us a tweet recommending a player at your club that you think can hold the Non League Chip flag high in the season ahead. Give your reasons in less than 140 characters, all chip related reasons are sure to get a head start!
Please tweet us at @nonleaguechips
I guess we’ll set a deadline of the first game of the season. Good luck!
PreSeason(ed) Chips.
Right, lets get those tums warmed up for the season ahead by getting straight on this chip rating in preseason! Now that everyone has had a few weeks of to get any exotic lasagne, paella, fajita eating out of their system, it’s back to the bread and butter game of nonleaguechips (what?).
We want to hit this season running so we’re hoping to get to some new unrated grounds in the next couple of weeks, and we’d love it if you could join us.
Remember, this gives all of you ‘league team’ following fans a chance to get in on the non league chip scoring action, too!
Eat and submit, friends. Eat and submit.
Summertime Chips!
Hello Internet.
Just because the footy here in the UK has split for a bit, it doesn’t mean that we want to stop exploring non-league for the perfect fried spud!
If you’re off to a league that has a summer season, let us know how the chips are!
USA, Ireland, EVERYWHERE!!!
See you on the chips side.

An excellent score here for Bognor. Great value at £1 a portion and a good range of sauces too including Piri Piri and Chilli Sauce. Or you can add Curry Sauce for 50p. Well cooked too, almost perfect. They also do freshly baked bread pudding for 50p a slice, still warm from being baked. No wonder they won best tea bar in the Blue Square South 2 seasons running.

Lack of residence time in hot oil leaves anaemic product. Like sucking on mashed potato. Otherwise fine!

For the price, portion size was very good. Only the basic condiments. On the plus side Heinz Ketchup, Salt in Sachets and a Chip Barm option, however the sauce was a right faff as you had to use a long spoon to put the sauce on your chips from the bowl it had been poured into. One again we had a heated debate about the legitimacy of Fries. Ruth said they were the best she’d tasted as a reviewer but they were fries so a compromise of 8/10.

A pretty good batch of chips ruined by the lack of condiments (only tomato ketchup - shocking). Bideford were promoted after a 1-0 win and will have to improve their standard of chips when they go up to the higher division.

Before tasting portion size seemed alright. Woeful choice and quality of condiments (2 of the 3 is for a working salt shaker). one of the worst portions of chips I’ve had in a long time. Great club, friendly service, good prices, but they really need a better fryer.

WITTON ALBION FC

Why are Witton so bloody good at everything? Not content with having the best ground in the league, the best social club, a museum, friendly fans and a team playing great football, they have a top-notch snack bar as well!
For the excellent price of £1.20 I got a fair sized portion of chips (although they did take a while to arrive). I had mine topped with curry sauce, but gravy and peas were also available, along with an option of a chip muffin. Sauces were plentiful, with ketchup, brown, mustard and burger sauce on offer. Nice little crunch to them as well, but a few more seconds in the fryer would’ve given them another couple of points. Still a commendable effort though!

Last season’s Guest Chip League winners make the step up to the official Chip League with a big score. Jackie, the food hatch lady, has fully embraced the Non League Chip criteria and has really pushed her portions to new boundries. This particular portion was a little bit under fried for my tastes but the condiment, price and portion size rate so highly it’s near enough football chip perfection. The attention to detail was outstanding. If you have a day where your club is without a game and you live within 50 miles of Godalming, go and visit Jackie and experience their spuds!
This morning we presented our first Non League Chips trophy to Badshot Lea. We met their food hatch lady, Jackie. We like Jackie, she embraces the Non-League Chip attitude. Having succeeded in topping the Guest Chip League, she is still striving to push her portions to new levels. Since winning the Guest Chip League she now, additionally, serves cheese, gravy, sweet chilli sauce and 2 types of BBQ sauce with her chips (upon request, of course). We can’t show our gratitude and appreciation of Jackie’s outlook on frying potatoes enough. Congratulations Badshot Lea, in Jackie you currently have Non League Chips’ Lionel Messi.
It’s going to be tough to beat Badshot Lea again this season, is your club up to the challenge? Let us know!
Half time chips
Hi,
A most interesting article, I will include my own (Ramsgate FC) rating on chips when I go tomorrow (31st). However for next season could you include a drink version of the same magnitude. Since the demise of Bovril (they no longer make it I am told) although at every football ground I have ever been to used to sell it, can we include a half time drink with the chips, whether it be an alcholic drink or soft drink I think quality and price should be rated. For instance I have paid £ 1:20 for a pint of coke out of a pump at Ramsgate FC, however for the same item at Bromley I have paid £3:40. I would be interestedin your comments if you are able to set this up.
Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your message.
Whilst we all enjoy a tasty beverage with our chips we currently have no plans to expand into the liquid refreshment market. We feel that the surface of the Non League Chip world has still only been scratched, and we would like to delve a little deeper into that before moving into new areas.
I hope your game at Ramsgate went well, and that the chips filled you with either joy, excitement or both. Please feel free to submit a review.
